Current statistics demonstrate 1/31 children have autism. A 2017 report from the Autism Housing Pathways project estimated that about 500,000 young adults with autism will transition to adulthood in the next decade (2017-2027), and many of these individuals will need some form of housing support, either in group homes, supported living arrangements, or other forms of accommodation. and it is estimated that 1/3 of these adults have intellectual challenges that will require life-long support and programs. Most of these adults are currently living at home with their aging parents and it is a matter of time where they will require new living accommodations.
Dr. Jerry and his family are providing leadership in addressing the faith based housing needs of this under-served population through Home Life Community, a model community for adults with autism and other related disorders.
